Enkei RPF1 vs RAYS 57DR: Which Wheel Suits Your Build?

Enkei RPF1 performance wheel for comparison with RAYS 57DR

The Enkei RPF1 and RAYS gramLIGHTS 57DR are two of the most recognised Japanese performance-wheel designs, but they take different approaches to styling, size coverage and construction. If both are available in a suitable specification for your car, the choice often comes down to the exact fitment you need and the look you prefer.

RPF1 vs 57DR at a glance

  • Enkei RPF1: twin-spoke motorsport-inspired design using Enkei's MAT Technology.
  • RAYS 57DR: six-spoke gramLIGHTS design that RAYS currently specifies as a cast one-piece wheel.
  • Both: offered across multiple diameters and fitments, but availability depends on market, PCD, width, offset and current production.

Enkei RPF1 design

The RPF1 uses a distinctive paired-spoke layout. Enkei describes the design as helping stress dispersion under cornering and braking, and the current RPF1 specification uses the company's MAT Technology.

Enkei currently lists the RPF1 across 14-, 15-, 16-, 17- and 18-inch diameters on its official product page, with exact PCD, width and offset combinations varying by size and market.

For 5x100 applications, the RPF1 is particularly popular with Toyota 86/GR86, Subaru BRZ and applicable Subaru WRX models. See our RPF1 5x100 fitment guide.

RAYS 57DR design

The 57DR uses a clean six-spoke layout from the gramLIGHTS range. RAYS currently lists the standard 57DR as a cast one-piece wheel and offers it in 15-, 17-, 18- and 19-inch diameters, again with exact specifications depending on PCD, width and offset.

The six-spoke style works across modern and older JDM platforms and is available in common enthusiast PCDs including 5x100 and 5x114.3 in selected sizes.

Construction terminology

The two manufacturers use different construction descriptions, so it is worth keeping the comparison precise. RAYS specifies the standard 57DR as a cast one-piece wheel. Enkei specifies the RPF1 with MAT Technology, a rim-forming technology used by Enkei.

Neither label alone decides which wheel is right for a particular car. Exact wheel mass, size, load specification and clearance depend on the individual part number.

Styling differences

If you prefer a highly recognisable twin-spoke race-wheel look, the RPF1 has a very different visual character from the 57DR. If you prefer a simpler traditional six-spoke design, the 57DR offers that aesthetic.

Face shape can change substantially across width and offset, so compare photos of the exact specification rather than assuming every RPF1 or 57DR has the same depth or concavity.

Fitment availability matters more than the model name

Before choosing between them, confirm that the wheel exists in a specification suitable for your car. Check:

  • PCD;
  • diameter and width;
  • offset;
  • centre bore;
  • brake clearance;
  • tyre size and approved rim width;
  • guard and suspension clearance.

For GR86, BRZ and 5x100 WRX owners

Both models frequently appear in 5x100 discussions, but the correct specification still depends on the vehicle generation, brakes, suspension and tyre. Compare our GR86/BRZ guide and WRX 5x100 guide before choosing a size.

Which should you choose?

Choose the model that is available in the correct specification first. From there, compare visual style, exact weight, tyre compatibility, brake clearance, finish, included hardware and price for the specific part number.
