Subaru WRX 5x100 vs 5x114.3: Which PCD Fits?

Subaru WRX 5x100 wheel fitment and PCD guide

One of the most common Subaru wheel-buying mistakes is assuming every WRX and WRX STI uses the same bolt pattern. Subaru has used both 5x100 and 5x114.3 across different WRX generations and variants, so model year and exact vehicle specification matter.

What does PCD mean?

PCD stands for pitch circle diameter. A 5x100 wheel has five wheel studs positioned on a 100 mm circle, while a 5x114.3 wheel has five studs on a 114.3 mm circle. They are not interchangeable.

Subaru WRX 5x100

Many Australian-market WRX models from the 2002–2014 era use 5x100. HausofWheels keeps these cars in a dedicated Subaru WRX 5x100 wheel collection so they are not mixed with later 5x114.3 applications.

Subaru WRX and WRX STI 5x114.3

Later WRX and WRX STI applications use 5x114.3, but the exact changeover and brake package can depend on generation and variant. Use the dedicated Subaru WRX & STI 5x114.3 collection rather than assuming a wheel from an earlier WRX will fit.

Our WRX / STI 5x114.3 fitment guide gives additional generation and compatibility context.

PCD is only the first check

Even after confirming 5x100 or 5x114.3, you still need to check:

  • wheel diameter and width
  • offset
  • centre bore and hub-ring requirements
  • brake-caliper clearance
  • inner suspension clearance
  • tyre size
  • ride height and alignment

A wheel can have the correct PCD and still be unsuitable for your vehicle.

How to avoid ordering the wrong WRX wheels

Before purchasing, confirm the exact model year, chassis/generation and whether the vehicle is a WRX, WRX STI or special edition. If you are unsure, send HausofWheels your vehicle details before ordering.

You can also browse the broader Subaru WRX / WRX STI wheel hub, all 5x100 wheels or all 5x114.3 wheels.

Why HausofWheels separates the collections

Keeping 5x100 and 5x114.3 WRX products separate makes the shopping process clearer and reduces the chance of mixing incompatible generations. HausofWheels supplies genuine JDM wheels only, with Australia-wide shipping and eligible Sydney pickup by appointment.

Why the WRX or STI badge alone is not enough

Wheel fitment should be checked against the exact vehicle rather than the badge alone. WRX and WRX STI specifications can differ by generation, model year, market and brake package, and a special edition can also have different clearance requirements from a standard model. When shopping, use the vehicle's exact year and variant together with the PCD rather than assuming another WRX owner's wheel setup will transfer directly to your car.

Can 5x100 and 5x114.3 wheels be interchanged?

No. A 5x100 wheel and a 5x114.3 wheel use different bolt-circle diameters, so a wheel designed for one PCD does not directly bolt to the other. HausofWheels' vehicle collections are organised around the correct PCD to reduce the risk of ordering a wheel that cannot mount to the vehicle.

Width and offset still matter after PCD

Two wheels can both be 18-inch and share the correct PCD but sit very differently on the car. Wheel width changes how far the inner and outer edges of the wheel extend, while offset changes the wheel's position relative to the hub. That affects suspension clearance, guard clearance and the tyre position. Brake-caliper shape can also matter even when the wheel diameter appears large enough.

WRX PCD FAQ

Does the correct PCD guarantee the wheel fits?

No. PCD is only one fitment dimension. Width, offset, centre bore, brake clearance, tyre size, suspension and alignment still need to be checked.

Should I shop by model year or by PCD?

Use both. Start with your exact model year and variant, confirm the PCD, then use the relevant vehicle-specific collection. If anything is unclear, send HausofWheels the year, model, brake setup and the wheel specification you are considering before ordering.

Where should I start?

Earlier 5x100 applications can start with the WRX 5x100 collection. Later 5x114.3 applications can start with the WRX / STI 5x114.3 collection.
